If you want to golf on the rim of a volcano, the Volcano Golf Course is the place for you. The course was designed by Jack Snyder and opened in 1920. The location of this golf course in such proximity to an active volcano makes it an alluring prospect and bucket list item for many golfers, also the course is just 30 miles away from Hilo, making it extremely accessible for those staying on the Eastern side of the Big Island and for visitors to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park.
The course has wide fairways and stunning greens. This is an 18-hole, par 72 golf course located next to an active volcano in Hawaii Volcanoes National Park and is over 4,000 feet above sea level, with panoramic ocean views and cooler temperatures. The course has a total length of 6,547 yards, a USPGA rating of 70.4 and a slope rating of 128. There is also a nice driving range for practicing.
